Free, fast-paced letter shooting game
Alphabet Shooter: Survival FPS is a free action game developed by Rapid Rabbit Games. This wacky first-person shooter has a unique premise. For some reason, you are trapped in a massive mansion, tasked with surviving and fighting against a unique breed of monsters: the alphabet. Colorful letter characters hunt you and try to take you out of the equation.
Its colorful graphics make it feel like a weird mod for Roblox and a combination of internet culture games like Into the Backrooms. Unfortunately, like most free games, it suffers from too many ads, interrupting the gameplay at every turn.
Shoot monsters from A to Z
As the title suggests, Alphabet Shooter: Survival FPS lets you shoot monsters in the shapes of letters in the western alphabet. Aside from surviving in the massive complex, you must spell certain words. This means that you have to take down monster letters that spell out the word you need. This could’ve been made more fun with extra monsters to spice up the experience.
The visuals in this game scream low production value: low-resolution set designs and cartoonish monster designs. These decisions make the game confusing on whether it’s suitable for children or not. On the one hand, it has a reasonable contrast among in-game elements. Meanwhile, it has its seriously disturbing moments. Either way, it has intuitive controls that make it enjoyable for many players.
Unfortunately, the enjoyment of this game is severely limited by ads. In between missions, you see ads. They are sometimes unskippable for a couple of seconds, but they are always marked with that exit button that’s hard to spot. Additionally, the game heavily pushes for watching ads, making it hard to avoid. For example, extra lives are available after watching full 30-second videos.
A fun premise ruined by ads
While it’s understandable that game development studios need to earn to stay afloat, games like Alphabet Shooter: Survival FPS take it too far. It could’ve been a much more enjoyable experience with the unusual combination of FPS and survival horror with a dash of primary education. The game even makes the most out of its basic mobile app visuals and the standard controls but the relentless ads just set everything back.
